• A mini tripod, quick spring clamp connector for the tripod and micro fiber cloth (all part of the telephoto package).

Right of the bat I was excited and started to open all the individual plastic packages and get stuff organized. I wasn’t to hot on the idea of sticking the magnet to the back of my iPhone, but for the time being that’s where it is. Since I’ve got a custom case with a wide opening, it fits. But I might opt for a different case to mount the magnet to in the future.

The Magnet

Each mini lens comes with three magnets, a black, white or chrome plated front to match your iPhones back case.

The Wallet

While all of the lenses have been out for some time, the wallet was just released and really was the driving factor to my purchase. Photojojo also included a bundled package when the wallet was released with a nice discount.

Overall the wallet is pretty decent, but I’ve got a few issues I’d like to address.

Issue #1

The brown strap which is meant to clasp the wallet closed feels a little cheap (I think it’s pleather). Now while I don’t expect real leather, the wallet itself is made out of canvas, but it feels really strong and durable.

I’m going to predict that the strap might wear real fast and might tear. Now that’s not my big concern of the strap, in fact I’d be okay with it if it didn’t have such a horrible snap/clasp. I have yet to get it to stay closed. Even when I put a finger behind the female end and push soft/medium/hard it just pops back out. I would have liked to see a higher end clasp or even a magnet latch.

Issue #2

The center interior has an opening with a magnet backer to hold the small lenses. It has a layer of canvas over it to give is some style. I was intrigued by the idea, but let down in the follow through. The little key chain magnet lens holders each lens came with seems to have a super strong magnet so that the lens won’t get thrown off by accident. But that wallet’s magnet seems to fall short of magnetic power. Is it because of the canvas in front? Maybe they should have inserted a thicker or more powerful magnet then.

I though about taking the wallet with me when I go to Dodger games (it also happens to be blue!) to use on my Dodgers photo blog InfieldBox.com, but the fact that I gave the wallet a few shakes and a lens fell out I am not so sure. I think I’ll just pocket a lens or two when I know I’ll be using them.

Conclusion

Now in no way am I saying don’t buy the wallet, I’m just letting you know there are some cons, easily fixable cons. But still cons.

So the wallet isn’t travel-able by itself, but a storage wallet at home or in your photo bag, sure!

I will still be using the lenses to take a bit more interesting photos.

Did some t-shirt cleaning today, throughout a huge pile, and gathered up all my various WordCamp shirts.

Sadly there a re a few of the above that I’ll be getting rid of.

The whole top row is going, unless anyone wants them. Top left is a small WordCamp LA shirt from ’09 (I’ve got my medium still). Next is a WPCult shirt from a camp I sponsored before I sold the site. Third would be Portland from ’08 which I didn’t attend but got shirt from Aaron at the first Vegas WordCamp. Last would be 2011′s Miami camp. Oh, and the 2011 SF shirt bottom right..

All shirts are Mediums and never worn or only a few times.

Header Image for my Comment Validation plugin. — “YOU SHALL NOT PASS”

Late last night I spent some time and created header images for the rest of my plugins, and I am quite fond of a few of them.. I’d really like to get some feedback from your on which ones you like and which should be changed (and how/what).

The last design was light, so kept that feel. I’m still using my favorite framework “Hybrid” and the hybrid core system with a HTML5 theme. I made this theme as responsive as possible, so try and move the browser in and out..

Last week I transferred some themes, two to be exact from the domain themelit.com over to fxthemes.com where I’ve been listing the premium themes for sale. Along with the domain transfer the store front got a design overhaul including a responsive design!

Since ƒxThemes got a fresh new look I thought I’d freshen up one of the two themes. Rock N’ Rolla, effectively known just as Rolla in version 1 was a custom theme I built for musicians and event venues. The first installment saw my first attempt at HTML5 for public consumption. Like most WordPress work I do, I try to keep the design simple fresh and limited on external images making use of CSS and its somewhat older browser incompatible younger sibling CSS3.

For the time being you can check out version 1 here (until I take down the site).

The Update

Three weeks ago I started what I thought to be a slight update the the theme. I was going to update the core framework to the current 1.2.1 from 1.0. Update some admin options like jQuery CDN hosted versions and some improved functions for the latest WordPress version 3.2 as well as the upcoming version 3.3.

The Overhaul

I am not sure at what point it all changed, but the small list of changes, maybe 15 turned into a final changlog of over 150 changes. Some of which I didn’t log and almost don’t remember. So, version 2 was born.

Even though the numerical version shows 0.2 It is still a major update to the theme. Some of the maor changes are as follows:

• Update: Hybrid Core to version 1.2.1.
• Complete overhaul of design and colors.
• Changed folder name from rolla to rocknrolla.
• Added new widgets, removed old widgets.
• Removed Custom Post Type event in favor of The Events Calendar plugin.
• Added HTML5 audio player: jPlayer requires javascript.
• Removed 95% of options.
• Theme updated and ready for WordPress 3.3.
• Theme requires certain plugins (plugin installer included).
• Added support for Crowd Favorites Post Formats UI plugin.
• And much more..

Mike asked about adding the posts featured image (if available) in a column next to the title into core. And while that a great idea (and I think there is a trac ticket for that), I though it would be an easy plugin to create. So I started Sunday and finalized it some time this week when I got repository access and uploaded the first version.

The last three designs with dark, so I’ve lighted this theme up with light blue colors and a white background. I’m still using my favorite framework “Hybrid” and the hybrid core system with an HTML5 theme.

Luckily I had a two week vacation where I had time to map out my direction and design. I’m pretty sure I’ll have a few errors and issues, but I’ll fix those as I see them or as you do (comments welcome). I decided to take the approach I’ve been doing with clients lately and talked about on wpcandy, which has caused some duplicate functions and some missing ones. Hopefully will have that figured out soon enough.
