The Downside of some Networks

I recently met a really nice guy at the 2008 Blog World Expo; . And I thought it to be one of the best exhibits at the hall of 100+ exhibits….

But after careful examination and prodding by myself and Jeana ( @Jeana Arter.com ( my GFreind ) )

We decided that although the site allowed both pictures and video, the fact that Jeana was spamed and hit with over 200+ hits of “Hey baby ( *in a deep scary voice [i can only imagine]) show me your tits! )

*Um… plus, not to mention, that there profile picture had a none other than fack picture of a huge co*k, i mean pe**$…??

crap!!!!

I canceled as soon as she(Jeana) got a letter from some bitch stating, “you need to help us filter out these nice people”.

Any way,

I would rather have my Twitter + my TwipPic + my TwitVid!!!

Stratosphere: A REAL Dump

Over the weekend, well, Sunday night I stayed at the Stratosphere “resort”. At least that’s what they are calling it. I think it should be renamed to the Tallest Tower in the crappiest location; But.. our rooms look worse than a motel 6 built in 1964 and smell like 9 dude’s drank to much and puked in the sink and shower! oh and they should trademark that, so lets add a little ™, lol.

But seriously, you already know what I really think of the place. Disgusting, just DON’T ever stay there, no matter how cheap it is… eeewww.

After the Blog World Expo

I went to the Blog World Expo which was held in Las Vegas from the 19th-21st. I only made it to the last day. My morning started out at 4am at home, driving to pick my girlfriend up from work and then spending the morning on highway 15 to Vegas! We got to Vegas at around 9:30am just enough time to grab a quick bite before the expo.

Once inside we spent most of the morning browsing inside the exhibits hall. We came across many company’s I have heard of and a lot that I had not. One thing for sure, the hall was filled with Widget Application, like crazy!

Out of the whole exhibit there were only a handful of company’s that stood out to me. And I will tell you about a few of them now.

In no particular order…

  1. OutBrain.. Integrate ratings and personalized recommendations, quickly and free.
  2. TechSmith Capture, edit, and share exactly what you see on your screen.
  3. Zannel A free mobile video and photo blogging community See post!
  4. Woopra Website Tracking and Analytics.
  5. Pic App the best content for the best publishers.

Anyway, those are a few of the company’s which I spent a good deal of time talking with. And I liked there ideas and there service.

Oh and I must say that Woopra, is quite the amazing Analytics application! And… thanks Lorelle for giving me a awesome complex speech about the application.

I will see you again next year!

Critical Update for WordPress

Stefan Esser recently warned developers of the dangers of SQL Column Truncation and the weakness of mt_rand(). With his help we worked around these problems and are now releasing WordPress 2.6.2. If you allow open registration on your blog, you should definitely upgrade. With open registration enabled, it is possible in WordPress versions 2.6.1 and earlier to craft a username such that it will allow resetting another user

Catching up

So since I have been bake there have been a lot of changes. Well I think I can go on for ever about what has and hasn’t changed. But I think I will just create a quick like for myself and make it easy.

  • The new WordPress 2.6.1 release, like I said.
  • The Olympics are almost over.
  • Hmm, I thought there was more… Maybe I am tired and forgot stuff… yeah, I’ll get back to this later.

P.S. My brain still feels like its on vacation.. I need a reality check.

Plugin Compatibility Issues

Everyone has plugins installed on there WordPress blog. And some people have so many that there are compatibility issues between them. Well I am sure that most of you won’t experience this, I just came across a known issue between two plugins.

As you see in a previous post “Conditional Tags”, I am using the WP-Syntax:

Syntax highlighting using GeSHi supporting a wide range of popular languages. Wrap code blocks with < pre lang=”LANGUAGE” line=”1″> and where LANGUAGE is a geshi supported language syntax. The line attribute is optional. By Ryan McGeary.

I recently downloaded the Register Plus which will…

Thing is, the new Register Plus plugin wouldn’t activate while the WP-Syntax plugin was. So what to do? Well I sent a message on over to Skullbit, so I guess I’ll have to wait and see. for now, I will leave the WP-Syntax plugin activated.
